How Long Does Tadalafil Last?
As-needed tadalafil is often described as lasting up to about 36 hours for some men — a longer window than typical sildenafil use. Daily tadalafil is a separate, lower-dose approach. Stimulation is still required, and individual response varies.

The longer window
Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor with a longer half-life than sildenafil. That is why some men describe more flexibility around timing. A longer window is not a 36-hour erection. It means the medicine may still support erections with stimulation later in that period.
Onset for as-needed use is often in a similar ballpark to other PDE5 inhibitors (about 30–60 minutes), though food has less impact for many men than with sildenafil.
Daily dosing is different
Daily tadalafil uses a different strength and schedule than as-needed tadalafil. It is intended for men who prefer not to time a pill around sex, when a clinician decides that is appropriate. Do not convert an as-needed tablet into a daily routine without medical advice.
Choosing based on lifestyle
If you want a shorter, more planned window, sildenafil may be discussed. If you want a longer window or daily readiness, tadalafil may be discussed. Cardiovascular safety, nitrates, and other medicines still come first.
